Almond Bakewell Tart Blog

                                                     ALMOND BAKEWELL TART

This makes a delicious tart and, although it contains only almond essence,it tastes very almondy. If you prefer, make the mixture into small individual tarts but this will, or cource, take longer.

Making time about 30 minutes
Baking time about 35 minutes
Serves 8

Shortcrust Pastry
6oz (175g) plain flour
1 and a half oz (40g) hard margarine
1 and a half oz (40g) lard
about 2 tablespoons cold water

Almound Filling
 4oz (100g) margarine
4oz (100g) caster sugar
4oz (100g) ground rice or semolina
half teaspoon almond essence
1 egg, beaten
4  tbs rasberry jam  -
a few flakes almounds

To make the pastry:

Measure the flour into a large bowl. Add the fats, cut into small pieces.and rub in untill the mixture looks like crumble - the sort that you sprinkle over apples. Mix to a stiff dough with the water; add all the water at once and mix with a wound-bladed knife and then gather the lump of pastry together.
Ideally, rest the pastry, wrapped I cling film, in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.

Heat the oven to 400F, 200C, gas mark 6 and ut a baking sheet in the oven on the shelf just above the centre.

Roll out the pasrt on a floures table and use to line 8 to 9 inch (20 to 22.5cm) flan tin. Prick the base well.

TIP - you can buy ready made pastry. Its not expensive , but making your own is always fun.

To make the filling:

Melt the margarine in a pan and add the sugar, grond rice or semolina and almond essence and egg. Spread the base of the fkan with jam and then pror the filling over. Sprinkle the top with flacked almonds or cherrys.

Bake in the oven for about 35 minutes, untill the pastry is a pale golden brown at the edges and the filling is golden brown too. Romove from the oven and leave to cool in the flan tin.

To make Icing Sugar :

Using a wooden spoon, combine icing sugar, butter and milk in medium bowl until smooth. Add a touch of extra milk or water to get a glossier consistency.

5 REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL THAT WE ARE OUT OF THE E.U

5 REASONS TO BE GRATEFUL THAT WE ARE OUT OF THE E.U.

The U.K give the E.U. around £350 million per week, £19 billion per year or just under £500 billion since 1973 less than half has come back in subsidies. Now all that money can be used at home.

They never wanted us in the first place. We were twice rejected for membership while mainly France and Italy worked out the Common Agriculture Policy, CAP. This allowed their small farms to compete in the open market by giving them subsidies to sell their goods at a competitive price. In other words it allowed these farms to undercut the price of our farmers. Look at the state of our farming industry now.

We are out of the organisation that gave us the epitomy of "the gravy train" in which people transported goods from one country to another and collected subsidies for simply moving the goods between countries.

There are around 785  M.E.P.s who are paid around €100,000  plus expenses, plus pension, plus £300 per day for turning up. It was discovered a few years ago that they could'nt be bothered to do even that. To claim this expense they had to sign in but many were sending their underlings to do it for them, unluckily the press got wind and photographed these going on's. The E.U. responded in it's usual fashion and banned press photography from the building.

The E.U. have never published their accounts, they can't balance their books. We hand over billions to an organisation cannot tell you what they are spending our money on. Have you ever applied for funding from our government?. They want to know what the money is being spent on down to the last penny and they are legally obliged to do so. Yet they get away with handing over billions to the E.U. without knowing what the money is being spent on. A matter for Inspecter Knacker surely?

                                                                                                 Sparkle Toothy Tabs

Toothy tabs come in 6 different flavours, I chose to try out Sparkle first which Lush claims will make your teeth sparkle brightly. The flavour of this toothy tab is vanilla with added black pepper for a 'radiating warmth' after you've finished brushing. I have got used to the sensation and do enjoy using them. My mouth feels clean after brushing, but my teeth don't look brighter or cleaner than they usually do.
I don't think toothy tabs are for everyone. They're certainly a new experience and I'd say they're worth trying if you're curious.

Review on Mariposario de Benalmádena-Butterfly Park Belamadena Blog

Hello,
Today has been eventfull.. UK left the EU , PM resigns and the £ dropped massively.. But lets not feel down and gloomy. Here's something to put your mind to ease.

When I was on holiday in Fuengirola in Spain just a couple of months ago. Me and my partner decided to go to the Mariposario de Benalmádena-Butterfly Park. Loving butterflys and loving nature. It is 20 minutes from Malaga, and has more than 1,500 butterflys from around the world  flying freely in a tropical paradise between waterfalls and flowers. You will be able to observe how they are born, how they reproduce and enjoy learning many things about these wonderful insects.
At 10.00 euro for an adult and 7.50 euro for an child.

When you pay to get in you can come back as many times in a day. Have lunch at the cafe , enjoy Stupa de la Iluminación en Benalmádena wich is right beside the butterfly house and if free to have a wonder round.

They are magnificent insects , and only live for a short time.

I really enjoy this place and watching them so close to you. There are many facts, and the staff are freindly.

What does the upside down picture remind  you off?

The gift shop has various items and products , including mounted butterflys and moths for people who collect them or for people who want a keep sake.

SPICED OATMEAL BISCUTS Blog

HELLO,
Welcome to m Blog. Today my freind Jade will be helping me bake something sweet and healthy.
Heres the recipe for :
                                                     SPICED OATMEAL BISCUITS

60g coconut palm sugar
60g coconut oil
50g rolled porridge oats or coarse oatmeal
2 tsp mixed spice
60g white of brown spelt flour, sifted
half a tsp baking pwder
Pinch of sea salt
half a tsp vanilla extract

Preheat the oven to 180C/160C fan/350F/Gas mark 4 and line 2 baking trays with baking parchment.

Place the coconut sugar and oil into a bowl and beat with a wooden spoon ntill very well incorporated and creamy.

If using porridge oats, place them in a bowl or an food processor and blitz for a few scounds untill the yhave coarce oatmeal texture. Add the ground oats or oatmeal to a bowl and combine with mixed spice, flour, baking powder and salt.

Add the four mixture to the sugar and coconut oil mixture and combine. Once everything is incorporated , drizzle over the vanilla extract and use your hands to form an ball. It may seem dry at first, but leep compressing the dough with your hands until it all comes together, add 1 or 2 drops of water and continue kneading.

TIP Dont be tempted to add water too early.

Take a heaped teaspoon of dough and roll into a ball. Place in baking tray and flatten out gently into neat round biscuit shape.

TIP Leave a 2-3 cm gap between each biscuit.

Place both trays into the oven for 8-9 minutes untill there a shade darker and rough textured on top.

TIP Keep an eye on them as they burn easy.

Leave to cool down for 10 minutes and transfer to a wire rack, but they will become crunchy as they cool.

TIP They will be soft at first - dont panic.

Thanks For reading my Blog today. Hope you will try this recipe.

101 CD PLAYER IS BACK with my Mission Speakers!

Hello!

Welcome to my 2nd Blog,

Well today is exiting! im finally getting my MASH 101 CD Player back after 6 months of waiting.
Me loving music as i do think this is the best invention possible. Even though we don't buy as many CD's any more the ones we do get are the ones we love. I'm so lucky to have this CD player as I know there rare. I had to get a new laser, and soarceing one was a problem. TN Makay is a great shop in Dumfries , so I cannot stress enough please go there if you need help with any of your electrical goods.

So having 101 CD player means you have to have loads of CDS. How do you choose the right order? I usualy get all of them out and have a little listen to ones ive not heard in while.. Like Lady GaGa's Fame , Snow Patrol's Fallen Empires and Roysopp's Junior All Great Albums! Then we get to work on the order from 1- 101 Its so hard and takes a couple of hours work.  Even though its a Tuesday right now if feels like a Friday.
Im so lucky to have 4 powerful speakers. My MISSION speakers and my wooden Boston speakers maks a Tuesday feel like Friday!

I love having a wee dance in an empty house, best way to let yourself go! Untill someone walks in the room....

There is a brand new page " Music Madness" All of my tunes for this week. Something different. Just click on that page to have a little read (and dance). It will change weekly.
